Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
We have a strong love for basketball and the doors that it can open outside of the game itself. We love to give current and former players, coaches, artists, and historians their recognition and the platform they deserve to tell their story and teach our listeners about the game and applying lessons we learn from hoops to everyday life. We don't care for hot takes, we don't care for debates but we do care about giving back to the game and giving people the recognition they deserve for their hard work, dedication, their experiences and their knowledge to give our listeners and ourselves a better understanding of the game, the business, and life beyond hoops. We also like to have have fun! Any Questions? Suggestions? You can email us at Notinmyhousepodcast@gmail.com Much Love to you all! Twitter - @NOTINMYHOUSEpc Instagram- @not_in_my_house_podcast
Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
In Loving Memory of Larry Miller: UNC, ACC & ABA Legend (Not In My House Classic)
This episode was recorded in Season 3, Episode 10 and is being reposted in loving memory of Larry Miller.
What an honor it was to have one of the greatest players in ACC history and one of the best players to ever wear a UNC jersey on the podcast. Larry Miller joined us to share his basketball experiences from one of the more fascinating eras of hoops.
You will see his number 44 hanging in the rafters. Larry Miller is known as the recruit who helped spark the North Carolina program playing for legendary Coach Dean Smith during his early years of coaching. Miller earned ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year TWICE both in 1966 and 1967. He was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Men’s Basketball Team being recognized as one of the fifty greatest players to ever play in the ACC. Miller went on to get drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers, but chose to play in the ABA over the NBA. Miller set and forever holds the ABA record of 67 points in a single game. Miller shares great stories about growing up in PA, choosing UNC, Dean Smith, Charlie Scott, Billy Cunningham, Lew Alcindor, Wes Unseld, Wilt Chamberlain, the ABA, his funeral, acting, his book, and MUCH more!
This was an honor to have the opportunity to learn from one of the all-time greats and we can’t thank Larry enough for his time. Those who had the chance to watch Miller play know how unique of a player he was. What you hear in this episode is a very small sample size of what you will learn about in his book titled “Larry Miller Time.” Be sure to check out and support his book to learn more about Larry Miller and his incredible stories about his journey in both basketball and life. Larry was a wonderful player, basketball mind, and even more amazing human.
