We love to give current and former players, coaches, artists, and historians their recognition and the platform they deserve to tell their story and teach our listeners about the game and applying lessons we learn from hoops to everyday life. We don't care for hot takes, we don't care for debates but we do care about giving back to the game and giving people the recognition they deserve for their hard work, dedication, their experiences and their knowledge to give our listeners and ourselves a better understanding of the game, the business, and life beyond hoops. Scoop Jackson - Journalist, Author & Chicago Legend
What an honor this is! We have a Chicago legend in the house today. Robert “Scoop” Jackson joins us to share his journey in hoops, journalism, and writing for an episode that will truly inspire.
Scoop Jackson is without question one of the most influential writers in the game, especially in the basketball world like his work with SLAM Magazine. He has also authored two books titled “The Last Black Mecca” and “The Darkside”. We of course loved learning all about his career in journalism and writing, but we also got to hear great stories about growing up in Chi-town, his basketball experiences, writing inspirations, Tim Hardaway, Rickey Green, LeBron James, Julius Erving, Allen Iverson, an incredible ground-breaking SLAM Magazine story, and MUCH more!
Our time with Scoop was life changing and we are forever grateful for the experience. We couldn’t possibly cover everything, but we at least got to learn how Scoop Jackson grinded to get to where he is today. This conversation will absolutely inspire and help you think a little differently…even about a simple paper clip.
